The L3 Technology Lipid Profile Testing System

Overview

L3 Technology (L3T) is in late development of its first commercial product; a multi-channel Lipid Profile Reagent Card; containing room temperature stable dried reagents, which is measured using a Fluorescence Card Reader.  This system will accurately measure a multi-fraction lipid profile from a finger stick sample (whole blood, serum or plasma) in less than three minutes from sample addition.  Applications for neat and dilute samples will be possible to meet the various demands and sample preferences of a range of potential users.  Results will include direct measurements of Total Lipid, Total Cholesterol and HDL-Cholesterol and calculated values for LDL-Cholesterol and Triglyceride

System Description

The L3T Lipid Profile Testing System comprises the following components:

  • L3T Reagent Card

A fully assembled card designed to test single or multiple clinical analytes.  The finished card includes a sample application area, which gives access to four reaction channels.  During production reagents are dispensed into reaction channels in minute droplet size as shown in photograph to the right.

This is a versatile system capable of adaption to a wide variety of applications. Reagents are specific for the analyte and may be single or multiple component constructs.

All reagents cards will include technology to transfer reagent lot number, expiration data and lot specific calibration information.

  • L3T Lipid Profile Reagent Card

Reagents for determining sample levels of Total Lipid, Total Cholesterol and HDL-Cholesterol are printed on the L3T Lipid Profile Reagent Card. The values for Triglycerides and LDL-Cholesterol are calculated.

The reagent formulations used by L3 Technology (L3T) vary from the use of single patented dyes to complex constructs of multi-enzymes and substrate systems. Patented technology allows L3T to overcome the problems normally associated with rapid re-solution and mixing of dried product into a homogeneous reactant

  • L3T Fluorescence Card Reader

Custom designed to simultaneously read fluorescence in up to four channels on an assembled Reagent Card - the current reader is in a prototype format. However, following clinical evaluations the reader will undergo further industrial design and miniaturisation to the full hand held format.
