Fluorescence Technology
L3Technology has patented the use of a series of known and newly synthesised luminophores that partition into specific molecules and thereby create a fluorescent product. Neither the luminophore nor the target molecule will fluoresce in its native state.
In L3T assays, the reaction goes to completion and steady state in seconds. With appropriate calibration, the fluorescence signal can be converted to an accurate measurement of the analyte present in the sample.
In order to offer a dry system, L3T has developed processes to stabilise the hydrophobic luminophores in a solution which may be applied to a plastic or glass surface and dried to a room temperature stable film. Reconstitution of the dried film, by just the addition of an aqueous sample, allows the measurement of a target analyte within 100 seconds of sample addition. The L3T team has projected the careful manipulation of concentration, physical conditions and excitation and emission spectra to deliver a convenient, accurate and robust point of care system.
